A common misconception when attempting to lose weight is that eating little to no food will result in speedy weight loss. The gag is that’s just not true! Say it with me people, food is our friend, not our enemy. Not eating or eating very little can in turn have negative effects on the body. One of those effects being a stall or increase in weight.

To lose weight, one must enter a caloric deficit (calorie deficit = burn more calories than one intakes in). While not eating does cause a calorie deficit, it shocks the body over time and depletes it of its emergency resources. It then begins to break down tissue, causing the body to begin to weaken. Starvation mode causes more problems in our body than most know. Migraines, vitamin deficiency, constipation, fatigue, and processing delays in the brain.

Food alone is not the problem, how we intake and when it’s taken in is the general problem. The body needs H2O, nutrient-rich foods, and movement. Consuming your favorite snack is problematic. Moderation is the key to eating the foods you want without packing on pounds. It’s the 80%-20 rule. 80% whole nutrient-rich foods and 20% nutrient-dense foods.

What does bad nutrition look like? Eating fast food often/daily, drinking sodas, juices, and sugary drinks, which can cause you to feel sluggish and fatigued.
